Dealing with Dating Disappointments

If there is one thing for certain, disappointment is a part of dating. Most people are in denial of this realization. They believe that they are going to join an online dating service and magically “the right one” will show up immediately. Many have that expectation because of the stories heard from other singles who have found their dream man online. The problem is that if you do not expect to have some letdowns along the way, you will give up too early or at the first sign of struggle.

According to the law of attraction, you do not want to focus on the dating blunders or you will attract more of them. Look at your dates like a sales person sees cold calls, they know rejection is the nature of their business. A good salesperson stays upbeat because they know that for each “no” they get, they are one negative response closer to a “yes.” Take what you can learn from each person and just say “next!” As you stop taking it personally and resisting the process you will find it gets easier and even fun to play the dating game.

Dating can be difficult when you are ready to be in a relationship and want to get to the “good part.”  Being pessimistic only saps your energy and brings you down. There is no magic crystal to tell you when he is going to show up in your life (unless you have a really good psychic to consult). Bring the patience of a fisherman into your dating experience.  The more times you put your fishing pole out there in the water, you have more fish to choose from. You may have to weed through some and throw them back, while others will swim away. Celebrate each time you put yourself out in the playing field. With patience and persistence, you will catch the big one soon enough.

I offer two self improvement hypnosis downloads to help with this issue, Dating Patience and Dating Confidence.  They are only 15 minutes and can really help you through the terrain of the dating world with peace of mind.

I couldn’t agree with you more on this topic. I see so many people who come in with the attitude of, “this isn’t going to work, all the good ones are taken,” or “none of these type of sites work.” They’re defeated before they ever begin their search.

    Keep up the good work!
